Behavioural Counselling

Approaches to establish healthier communication and environment between you and your pet.

Contact Us

Your loyal companion can be naturally playful, but sometimes their behaviour can be disruptive. It's not always easy to train your pet on your own. With behavioural counselling our team can suggest techniques that can establish healthier habits in your pet. It's also good to have these consultations to ensure your pet's naughty behaviours aren't related to an underlying health issue. To schedule a behavioural consultation for your pet, give us a call at 705-431-5570.

What is causing my dog or cat's behaviour?

Your pet's disruptive behaviour may be due to changes in their environment or lifestyle, lack of stimulation, pain, nutrition, or genetic predisposition. These can trigger your pet to become fearful, anxious, or aggressive. Here are some symptoms that can benefit from behavioural counselling:

  • Aggression towards humans and other pets
  • Hiding and whining
  • Excessive licking or scratching
  • Barking or growling excessively
  • Pacing or restlessness
  • Soiling or peeing inside the house
  • Refusing to eat
  • Trembling or shaking

What happens during a behaviour consultation?

Behavioural counselling is beneficial to both pet owners and their pets. With each consultation both parties get to understand each other better. Our veterinarians will begin the appointment by trying to find the source of your pet's inappropriate habits. Once they've determined that your pet's actions are not due to a health problem they will provide tips and strategies to curb your pet's behaviour. Once applied properly you will notice less disruptive behaviours and a healthier environment.
