October is Registered Veterinary
Technician Month!

We want to take this opportunity to celebrate and show appreciation for our Registered Veterinary Technicians! Technicians are responsible for patient care while your pet is in our hospital. This is a very important role in any veterinary hospital. The job of the veterinary technician is to take care of technical tasks, so the veterinarian can focus on his or her job!

They take X-rays, draw blood and run tests on the sample, they put pets on IV fluids and they monitor surgical patients before during and after surgery. Technicians prepare prescriptions and assist the doctors doing various medical procedures. RVT’s also do animal nursing tasks such as cleaning and bandaging wounds and administering medication. RVT's are multi-tasking machines!

Our health team would not be complete without our technicians!

Our team includes:

Breya, RVT

Breya has been with Alcona Animal Hospital since it’s inception in 2012! She is a graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College. Breya loves fostering the human animal bond by being a member of our health care team!

Kim, RVT

Kim joined our team just this year! She did both of her co-op placements at our Hospital while at Georgian College in the Veterinary Technician program and we couldn’t let her go! Kim is committed to our patients health and comfort while in our hospital!

Nicole, RVT

Nicole joined our team in June of 2017. She works as a part-time Registered Veterinary Technician at our Hospital. She has many years of experience as a technician and we are lucky to have her as part of our team!

Thank you to all of our technicians for all you do to provide exceptional health care for our patients! Your skills as Registered Veterinary Technicians are invaluable and greatly appreciated!!!
